In addition to our significant contributions through the company’s and founder’s foundation and trust, we like to empower our employees to also make a difference individually. This comes through in several programs, each allowing our employees to pursue interests that are meaningful to them. These programs bring to life the strong company values that attract such high-caliber talent to work at PBP

“PBP’s Corporate Citizenship gives us the opportunity, not only to give back to the community, but to feel good about ourselves too.”

Nicole Riegl
Director, Marketing and Operations
Executive Education Division

Background

PBP believes that “There’s no such thing as good companies…only good people. Change the people and you change the company.” We recognize that good people want to belong to, live and work in a vibrant community, and our programs are structured to give back to the community, and benefit all.

What We Do

Dollar-for-Dollar Matching Donations – Employees participate in the community service of their choice.  PBP matches every employee’s United Way donation (up to $1000 per year) for the nonprofit/ nonprofits the employee selects.

Mentoring Program – Team members participate in our Mentoring program during school (and work) hours.  Mentors travel to our adopted school to work one-to-one with their Mentees, visit their school, attend special presentations and events, and talk to their Mentee’s teachers about his or her progress.  The Mentees come to PBP on a regular monthly basis for visits, programs and a traditional group lunch.

“Here at PBP, they really put corporate citizenship into practice, because they provide time during the work schedule to get involved. It’s something that’s really impacted me.”

Liz Webb
Senior Corporate Recruiter

Unique Cultural Experiences – Employees enjoy complimentary, unique and developmental opportunities to participate in nonprofit programs. This includes speaker programs by the World Affairs Council,  film series and international cultural programs at International House, guest passes for The National Liberty Museum, events at The Franklin Institute and more. Employees are also given the opportunity to treat their families to evenings of professional entertainment at the dazzling annual Spring musical at Philadelphia’s popular Walnut Street Theatre.

“I’m always inspired when I watch the outstanding entertainment produced by the Walnut Street Theatre. The Spring series is always a crowd-pleaser! I’m proud PBP sponsors this each year”

Tom Schubert
COO & CFO

Five-Year College Scholarships – Every child of every full-time employee can receive a scholarship for up to five years. This extraordinary program addresses the concern for the high costs of providing a quality education for their children, but requires that students remain enrolled full-time, and maintain good grades. All scholarships are presented during an Employee Appreciation Party in August each year.

“With two kids in college at the same time this program is a real benefit. It shows PBP cares.”

John Walston,
Senior Group Publisher

Future Leaders Intern Program – Our Managers enjoy the opportunity to teach and coach the best and brightest young people entering the business world, as part of our highly-selective Intern program. The program goes beyond the typical, low-level intern assignments to offer real jobs, meaningful experience, and important growth of business acumen, teamwork and leadership skills. The program also leads to post-graduate opportunities to work at PBP.
